Description
This is a beautiful bike we took over early on from the original owner, a friend. Currently 62,762mi. It originally was equipped with a Wixom fork mount fairing and Calafia saddle bags with "stock seat" and aftermarket rack. (pics are before digital XX). The vin# puts this as an October 1973 build.
After many short trips, our first "long-haul" to the "91 Flagstaff National", my best friend (now, long time wife) "suggested" a new seat was in order. And it began... We swapped out the fairing to a Hannigan STE with type 2-lowers this also required type "S" bars, the side hand protectors we remove during the nicer riding months, the saddle bags got switched to Craven's with the rack and back-rest redone by Russell. The seat was a custom from Russell Day Long and we added their tank cover to the now Larger fuel tank. The fairing provided space for Auto-comm wired intercom, CB and audio (radio/tape) interface, we added gauges: Head temps L&R, Volt, Clock, Oil temp, Oil press. A Harro Tank Bag. Suspension - front progressive, Rear Koni. Electrical - Omega 600w alternator is new with high output voltage regulator, Boyer pointless ignition was added early on. Tires - are new Michelin's F&R tubes and rim/strips. New front brake pads teamed to slotted cast iron rotor, stainless steel braided lines. Engine has been balanced top end, lighter wrist pins, flywheel lightened and balanced, 3pc rings, MX deep oil pan and sump, Haydon oil cooler extra air box cover drilled for less restriction, Bing carburetor upgrade kit with improved floats. The bike was driven with respect and attention to care The new set-up got its first "long-haul" trip out to "95 Durango National", what a great trip followed by many others. Also, All of the original parts in good condition will go along, ie. the smaller fuel tank, extra front and rear fenders, shocks, front turn signals, air box, stock handlebars, seat rail, points and advance plate (set and indexed for back-up). and other odds and ends.
