Will consider offers on this item. It is in excellent shape.

The Commuter 3 is a good all-around jacket. It is made from Cordura, so while it has good abrasion resistance, it is no match for something like the Santiago, which is made from Dynatek.

The nice thing about the jacket is that the Cordura is not sealed with polyurethane in order to make it waterproof. Therefore, the jacket breathes, which extends its seasonality. The waterproofing is in the liner, and it does a very good job.

The downside of this arrangement is that the jacket will get soaking wet in the rain, although you will stay dry courtesy of the liner. So it can get quite heavy when wet. Of course, riding in SoCal, that's not usually an issue, but it can be if you get out of our dry environment.

All of the armor is CE-rated, as in all BMW gear, so that's a big plus. The garment is washable, so keeping it looking fresh once a year is relatively easy. And with the waterproof liner in place and perhaps either some fleece or a Gerbing liner as well, you've got a combination that will keep you toasty down into sub-freezing temps. On the high end, however, the breathability of the fabric meets its match. Much above 95 degrees and you're going to get warm fast, especially behind a windscreen.

A Commuter 3 makes sense as a 3-season jacket (fall, winter, spring) if you couple it with something like an Airflow 3 for the summer months.
