The time has come to thin out the stable a bit, and the R27 drew the short straw. The good news is that my wife of 22 years finally got her motorcycle license; the bad news is she doesn't want to ride any of the several vintage bikes that I own. I hate to let this one go, but it is definitely the one that gets the least riding. This was originally an American bike (VIN 382938) and was manufactured on May 27th, 1964 and delivered on February 18th, 1965 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. I bought it from a fellow enthusiast in Canada a couple if years ago for its vintage beauty. It is not a show piece, but is in good shape. There is a light patina, but the paint is still very good. There is a small to medium dent in the gas tank which was there when I got it. The PO converted it to 12 volt. It starts easily and runs well. I had it out the other day and the only issue seems to be a leak from the rear tire. The bike is near Picton, Ontario which is close to the US border crossing at Hill Island if you are thinking of coming up from south of the border. I only have the one photo right now, but will try to add a few in the next week or two.
