1975 BMW R75/6 - Chicago / Excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition!
Located in Chicago / Asking $4,300.
Up for sale is my 1975 R75/6 (LWB / long wheelbase) in Monza Blue. I’ve owned this bike for 12 years.
Most importantly, it’s an excellent runner and mechanically sound – as with many vintage bikes (especially airheads), it’s a little cold-blooded at first but after warming up for 10min or so, it hums beautifully. I used it for riding around the city and taking casual road/camping trips up to Michigan or Wisconsin. It has always been serviced by Motoworks Chicago and I have just about all of the service maintenance records available via PDF and organized them in conjunction with the mileage.
Cosmetically, as you can see in the pics, it’s in fantastic shape for a 45yr old bike. It has some small splits on the sides of the seat typical to bikes of this age. I’ve included pictures and am happy to send/post more if requested. Also comes with locking cases/keys. Comes with luggage and the keys to lock them, and I installed a rear luggage rack.
Clean and clear IL title.

I’d been looking for a vintage airhead for quite some time. I found and purchased this July 2008 with just under 43,000 miles. Bought it from BMW Motorcycles Grand Rapids (in Michigan) and brought it back to Chicago.
Current Mileage: 57,564 though will continue to go up in very small increments as go out for the random ride on it here and there.
It has had regular lube/oil/filter and valve adjustments,
New Metzeler Lasertecs installed at 57,184. (Current Mileage on bike is 57, 564)
Around 2013 – I bought a K1100LT and an R1100 RS and primarily rode those for longer distance trips and the R75 was only ridden around the city or short, day trips – so the mileage didn’t increase dramatically after 2013. Currently have an R1100RT that gets ridden most of the time on longer trips. I still ride the R75 around town so expect the mileage to go up, but not drastically.
Asking Price - $4,300
Will consider reasonable offers. It’s getting more and more difficult to find mechanically sound, clean examples of /5 and /6 bikes and you won’t be disappointed with this bike. Conversely, I wouldn’t be disappointed if this didn’t sell – it has quite a bit of sentimental value to me. In a shallow manner, I’ll also miss all the compliments other riders and even passersby would send my way when parked or stopped at a traffic light.
*** Test rides are welcome with cash in-hand and proof of a valid motorcycle license. ***
