1972 BMW R75/5

FOR SALE: 1972 BMW R75/5, silver with blue pinstriping, 64,208 kilometers. Comes with a Windjammer II fairing, set of Krauser bags with keys, and lots of OEM spare parts. I had it converted to American bars & wiring. New tires as of 3 years ago, not ridden since installed. Included are the BMW factory shop manual (in English), the Clymer BMW /5 shop manual, the BMW /5 Owner’s manual, and lots of paperwork from the purchase in Germany to work done in San Diego several years ago when it was last ridden. Everything works, and it ran fine the last time it was ridden. Also included is a tank bag and a riding belt. A set of custom-made Bates leathers is also available, but that’s a separate deal.
I just turned 81, and the bike has become too much for me to handle. I had bought a 1972 /5 through the Canadian PX when I was stationed in Kitzingen in 1972-3 (picked it up in Bad Windsheim) and rode it all throughout Europe. I brought it back with me when I was reassigned Stateside, got out of the Army, and went back to school. Had to eventually sell it to get through grad school. For over 50 years I’ve dreamt of recapturing the pleasure and joy of that experience, but it was “either the money and no time, or the time and no money”.
Well, when the stars finally aligned and I was able, I found this on the Internet. But things didn’t turn out as I’d hoped, so it’s time to finally let the dream go.
