Description
Up for sale is my father’s 1991 BMW K75RT with ~58,000 miles. After suffering a stroke a couple of months back, he has decided to pause his riding for a while to build back up his strength. He purchased this RT from the 3rd owner in 2012 and has enjoyed it ever since. This bike includes many extras, including a shorter BMW touring windshield, fork gaiters, additional LED driving lights, Cyclops LED headlight replacement, integrated BMW throttle lock (for those longs adventures), Corbin saddle, Oxford heated grips (nice to have on those cold mornings), BMW trunk, “Jonny blanket” style reflective tape and heat diverters around the lower fairing area to direct heat from the radiator away from the rider, stock BMW speakers with some wiring in the integrated fairing pods, hockey puck on the sidestand to reduce the lean, nice gas tank cover/protector, hard to find tipover bars with a pair of flip-down foot rests, upgraded YSS shock, BMW full tool kit, plus tire repair kit and an Admore rear flashing brake light (BRIGHT!!).
Cosmetically the bike is in okay shape, there’s some scrapes and scratches with both mirrors having taken a tumble at some point in their lives. The right-hand mirror has had new glass professionally installed, but it’s not the original. We do have 2 flip-down BMW keys for the ignition plus all keys for the saddle bags, trunk, and side pockets.
Mechanically the bike is in good shape. In the past few years we’ve replaced the fork seals, the waterpump seals (done professionally at the dealer), cleaned the fuel injectors, replaced fuel lines and filter, brake fluid, newer tires, etc. Everything works as it should – lights, switches, seat lock, clock on the dash, the integrated handle to lift up the bike on the centerstand, etc. Here’s the biggie – the drive shaft itself was replaced and final drive was rebuilt and had new splines installed by Hansen’s BMW out of Oregon. This is a known weak point on the K-bikes of this vintage, so you’re good to go for many, many more miles.
Comes with a clear title in his name plus record books, original BMW driving and riding manual, and Haynes repair manual.
There’s a nice bike cover and a Marsee tank bag, as well as some extra oil filters, seals, crush washers, etc. that also come with the bike.
The bike is located in southern Minnesota (near some great riding in the driftless area, a fly and ride perhaps?). Price is $1700 or best offer.
