Description
Since the 1970s, Gerbing's has been the standard for heated motorcycle clothing. I have been using their motorcycle products since the 1980s. This jacket liner is thin and light weight and is intended to be worn under your standard motorcycle jacket or rain suit. It is made with water and wind resistant materials and utilizes patented Microwire heat technology that was developed in response to a U.S. Department of Defense requirement. This heat technology is based on the use of micro-sized conductive fibers that are intertwined and encased in a Teflon coating, then woven into a multi-panel heating matrix and finally, placed in the garment. It is ideal for motorcycling because it draws low amounts of power (6.4 amps), easily connects to the motorcycles 12V system, uses a reliable digital temperature controller, can be scrunched up for packing and is hand washable when needed. And it extends your riding season well into the winter months from a temperature control perspective. I will include a leather pouch for the controller at no additional cost.
Gerbing’s 12V Heated Jacket Liner delivers up to 135 degrees (F) of warmth with Microwire-powered heat zones at the chest, sleeves, back, and collar. The nylon outer shell is wind-resistant, and when used as a mid-layer between a jacket and a base layer, it heats up in seconds. To operate this heated jacket liner, users must usually purchase the battery harness and temperature controller separately, but these are included in this offering. This model controller is designed to handle Gerbing’s system of heated garments including gloves and pants as well as the jacket.
If you are interested, I recommend that you read reviews of Gerbing’s heated motorcycle clothing on the Internet. I have article information from WebBikeWorld.com as well as Rider Magazine, and there are many others that share opinions on the excellent build quality, reliability, comfort, and value of this jacket liner and other Gerbing’s products. Current MSRP is $249 You can also get information on Amazon.com and you will realize what a bargain this offering is.
Sizing for this jacket runs small. I’m 5’-10 ½”, weigh 210 lbs and wear size large T-shirts and most jackets such as my Columbia brand winter jacket. You can see from the photos how it fits me. If it fits a little too big on you, it is usually no problem. If it’s a little too small you might have to reduce your base layers.
